If you’re one of those people who loves pub quizzes, Trivial Pursuits or are just a plain old sponge for facts, there are web- pages full of them about Crufts.

Fosse Data has online results from 2000 to 2011 here.

Perhaps the best history resource is the Kennel Club’s online Crufts Catalogue library with Schedules and Catalogues from 1886 to 2007.

Crufts – 6 weeks to go

Crufts 2012 is only 6 weeks away and, no doubt, all the Wire Dachshund exhibitors will be hoping their hounds will have just the right amount of coat on the day. The challenge is “did you strip its coat out too soon, or too late?” Of course, it’s easy for those with Smoothies; a quick rub down with a brush is all they’ll need and they’ll be fine. I mustn’t forget to mention the glamour-kids: the Long-haireds will be turned out to perfection.

If you’re not showing, but already planning your day out, there will be lots to see and do. Whichever day you visit you can get a “fix” of almost any of the 200 recognised breeds at the Discover Dogs area of the show. The Kennel Club is expecting around 28,000 healthy, happy dogs over the four days of the show which takes place from 8 – 11 March 2012 at the NEC, Birmingham.

In the run-up to Crufts I’ll be writing a series of Blog posts about the event and there will be an opportunity for some lucky reader to win free tickets to the show.

Saving dogs with spinal injuries: Science Daily

ScienceDaily (Jan. 18, 2012) — Dogs with spinal cord injuries may soon benefit from an experimental drug being tested by researchers at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences — work that they hope will one day help people with similar injuries.
