GJDA Seminar and A2 Assessment – learning about Dachshunds
The Great Joint Dachshund Association held a breed seminar and A2 assessment at Chieveley today which was attended by 32 people. I spoke about the Dachshund Breed Standard using a presentation based on my Illustrated Guide, together with video clips to demonstrate gait and movement.
Examples of champion Mini Smooths, Longs and Wires were provided by Sue Ergis, Glenda Marks and Sue Seath; all of their dogs were very patient and allowed the participants to get their “hands on” at the end of the morning session.
In the afternoon, 9 people took part in the A2 Assessments, judging classes of Mini Smooths and Mini Longs. There was also an opportunity for people to sit the Breed Council’s written paper. 14 people sat the paper, with all of them achieving a “pass” and two achieving 100%.
You can find out more about the Breed Council’s programme for education of judges here.
I’d like to say a huge “thank you” to all the helpers who made this event possible and, in particular Geraldine Brace, GJDA Secretary for her hard work in organising the day.
