Dog show entries are declining, but other events are flourishing
In November’s edition of the Kennel Gazette which arrived today, Chairman Steve Dean discusses the decline in dog show entries. He writes:
“As we tackle the declining entries at dog shows, agility events and field trials and gundog tests seem to be flourishing. As we look around internationally for ideas to attract new people, some answers could be closer to home. From the few other activities I have attended, there is a strong focus on the quality of the dog’s performance and much less about the people involved and perhaps this is an area worth considering“.
Am I reading too much into this, or should this be translated as:
“If more dog show judges judged the dogs, maybe more exhibitors would be prepared to enter.”
