KC Breed Watch Education Day 26-02-14

The Kennel Club held a Breed Watch Education Day for judges at its Stoneleigh building yesterday.  The purpose of the day was to update judges who award Challenge Certificates on the changes to Breed Watch that were implemented on January 1st 2014 and help them to understand how to recognise some of the visible health and welfare conditions they may come across when judging.  There were presentations and demonstrations using a range of dogs:

  • Movement (led by Frank Kane)
  • Eyes (led by Prof. Sheila Crispin)
  • Skin conditions (led by Nick Blaney)
  • Body condition (led by Dr. Ron James)
  • Dentition (led by Annette Oliver)

Miniature Dachshunds are now a Breed Watch Category 2 breed and all judges awarding CCs in the three varieties have to submit a mandatory report, plus a copy of their critique to the KC withing 21 days of their appointment.
