Countdown to Crufts – 4 weeks to go
Crufts Dog Show celebrates its 125th anniversary this year and kicks off in just 4 weeks from today. The world’s biggest dog show is bound to celebrate this milestone in style. From breed judging and Best in Show, to exciting displays in the Dog Activities ring, over 200 breeds to meet and greet, plus plenty more family-friendly entertainment to keep tails wagging for a full four days!
Thursday 10th March is Toy and Utility Day, Friday is Gundog Day and Saturday sees the Working and Pastoral breeds strutting their stuff. However, Dachshund fans will have to wait for Terrier and Hound Day on Sunday 13th March for their chance to see more than 500 Dachshunds competing for their individual Best of Breed awards.
If you can’t wait till the Sunday to get your fix of Dachshunds, you can still see a smaller selection of the breed at the Discover Dogs area on all four days of the show. “Discover Dachshunds” is being organised by the Midland Dachshund Club who have organised a group of experienced owners to show off the breed and to give visitors a chance to hug a Dachshund. You’ll be able to pick their brains about how to buy a Dachshund from a reputable breeder and find out what they’re like to live with. You might even get to meet some famous celebrity Dachshund owners – Peter Purves came to see us (photo – left)!
It is important to take as much time and effort as necessary to select the right puppy for your personal circumstances, so Discover Dachshunds is the ideal place to begin your research.
Don’t forget, the Dachshund Breed Council has lots of free information for potential owners on its website.
