10 years of Breed Club vs. General Championship MS Dachshund entries explained in 1 chart

There is only one chart you need to look at to understand what’s happened to Mini Smooth Dachshund Championship show entries between 2007 and 2016. It’s this one:

ms_bc_vs_gc_07-16

Entries at Breed Club Championship shows dropped from an average of 92 in the period 2007-11 to 90 for 2012-16. This is a 2% reduction.

Entries at General Championship shows dropped from an average of 75 in the period 2007-11 to 61 for 2012-16. This is a 19% reduction.

It doesn’t quite stack up with the accusation that it’s the Breed Clubs who are failing and who need to be “fixed”, does it?

Mini Smooths have the biggest entries of the 6 Dachshund varieties, so there is more data to look at and to be more statistically confident about what’s happening. The data here covers 69 Breed Club appointments and 156 General Championship show appointments. All data is from the KC Judges’ Records website.
